Star Wars child actor Jake Lloyd has been in a mental institution for 10 months, his mother has revealed.
Lisa Lloyd revealed in a new interview that Jake, who played Anakin Skywalker in 1999's Episode I – The Phantom Menace, was hospitalized after suffering a psychotic breakdown in March 2023 when she drove him home after getting food from McDonald's.
Lisa said the incident caused a traffic jam, prompting other drivers to call 911.
Jake was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2008 and was hospitalized later that day. A few months later, he entered a rehabilitation center for an 18-month stay.
