During the opening stages of Šumava Rally 2024 a Czech female co-driver named Alena Krejčíková has lost her life in a fatal crash. She suffered seriuos injuries and subsequently was pronounced dead by race organizers and local police official Mr. Ondřej Hodan. She was 41 years old.
Alena Krejčíková was driving a Subaru Impreza Sti alongwith co driver Jaroslav Krejčík. She was 41 years old and Jaroslav Krejcik was driving the car. According to social media users Alena Krecjckova was a charming and humble lady and she was very keen of sports and campaigning. Many of her nears and dears have paid a heart-felt tribute to the lady.
Consequently, organizers of the rally immediately cancelled the remaining two stages of the competition and posted on facebook about this crash in detail. They also informed rally enthusiastsand fans that they will decide further proceedings of the race after consultation with the participants and analysing more factors in action.
The accident took place near the village of Strážov and it was recorded by a spectator from a distance of few metres. It looks clearly that the driver drove off the field for reasons unknown yet and the matter is under local police investigation according to Mr. Ondřej Hodan. The car looks dragging heavily and deeply ploughing the fields from one side and spectators trying to have some safe side.
On the other hand, Šumava Rally spokewoman Mária Svobodová the driver suffered fatal injuries and very soon she was transported to Pilsen - Lochotín University Hospital by an air ambulance but she could not continue her fight for life and succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Medical staff tried their utmost possible but all their efforts remained fruitless.
Some 11 years ago during Příbram Rally , in October 2013 co-driver Jan Jinderle junior has also met with similar fate and had died.
