Emotional Moment; A Longtime Fan Delivers An Abandoned Retirement Banner to Shane Doan

While many Coyotes stand-out figures attended Wednesday's final game against Edmonton Oilers one of the important pieces of history; Shane Done's retirement banner also remained a focal point. 

A diehard Coyote fan named Matthew Jacobson delivered the banner from a storage box at the arena and he returned it to Shane Doan before the final game.

In February 2017, Shane Doan retired with Nor.19 from the Arizona Coyotes, and recognizing his exceptional performances franchise retired banner No.19 in 2019 as well. Afterwards his shirt was placed to the rafters at Desert Diamond Arena formerly known as Gila River Arena. When the team vacated the sarena and moved to Mullet Arena, they left back this banner there. 

Mr. Matthew Jacobson recovered this banner and during the early stages of the game, he returned it to Shane Doan in the hallway with cameras capturing this epic movement. 

During his career, Doan played 1540 games in 21 regular seasons. For the majority of this huge number, he played as a captain and reached a number of 402 goals and 972 points for his team. He won WHL titles twice, 2 Memorial Cups, 2 World Championship gold medals, and many more awards but unfortunately, he never won a Stanley Cup.

After getting retired in 2017, he returned to the Arizona Coyotes as an official but parted ways with the Coyotes the very next year_2022. Now, Doan works for Toronto Maple Leafs' general manager Brad Treliving as a special advisor.

There were scenes full of emotions at Mullet Arena when the Coyotes defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 and gave their fans a last win. Many fans who were dressed in ''white''  gave them a long-standing last ovation sendoff.
